Trust God to Rescue You from Your Torment!

Have you ever experienced so much during one season that it left you just about speechless? You tried to explain your emotions to a confidant and the words would not fall into place. Then you eventually reach a reality that concluded that you yourself could not understand your haughty emotions.

When you are experiencing a dark place in life, it can feel like the loneliest place. The people you once depended on have become distant strangers. You feel as though you are being attacked from every direction and all you know to do is just confine yourself to a place that will allow you to be an island to yourself.

It is one thing to be in the midst of chaotic situations, but it is another experience for that chaos to completely drown you in anguish.  It leaves you pondering, “Am I the only person who is going through this?”

I cry out to the LORD; I plead for the LORD’S mercy.

I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles.

When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn.

Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me.

I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought!

No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.

Then I pray to you, O LORD. I say, “You are my place of refuge.

You are all I really want in life. Hear my cry, for I am very low.

Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

Bring me out of prison so I can thank you.

The godly will crowd around me, for you are good to me.”  Psalms 142, NLT

David also experienced torment and struggle. It was when he found himself in a dark cave surrounded by opposition.  Although he was covered in royalty, anointed and chosen by God, he felt the lowliness of a mere ant.

BUT David called out to the LORD in his most desperate state and God heard and answered David’s prayers.

It doesn’t matter how low you feel, how alone you feel or how tormented you are by your situation, trust God to rescue you. For the LORD understands your chaotic emotions when no one else does; including you.

Before you give up, call upon the name of the LORD!
