Process of Purging

“But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members” (Romans 7:23, KJV).

“Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God” (Romans 8:8, NIV).

Every Christian has experienced Paul’s struggle that caused him a degree of torment. Paul realized that in his flesh dwells no good thing (v 7:18) but it is his mindset that has to change (v 25). Purging is a part of this mind transformation process. The body has to be brought under subjection to God’s law. How do I get rid of or empty those things that are unpleasing to God? By knowing what pleases and displeases Him. This is revealed in the Word of God.

“So we fasted and petitioned our God about this and he answered our prayer” (Ezra 8:23, NIV).

Spiritual Manifestation:  We are in the beginning of Lent season and during this time, Christians not only commemorate Jesus 40 day wilderness experience, but we model the example by during our own soul-searching. This is the time where purging can occur and mind transformation can progress. If you already know those things that are hindering you from walking in the light, great! Ask God to help you purge those things out during this period. If you are not aware of those blockages, sincerely ask God to reveal them to you.
