“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9, KJV).
Daily Renewal: Do you recall when you first accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, confessing that you were a sinner? Once you evaluated all the sin in your life it caused you to feel sad and ashamed because for the first time you realized that you had not made the best choices in life and that was not the person you wanted to continue to be. Then you probably began to grieve a little more when you realized that God through Jesus made an awesome sacrifice to save you from your life of sin. As you confessed your sins, you did not hurry through the process because you had a keen awareness of the miraculous sacrifice that had been made just for you. Your spirit became lifted once you realized that it took a lot of love for someone to do this just for you. You felt the need to try and be the best person you could be by not taking this precious gift for granted.
“If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth…if we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives” (vv. 6, 10, NIV).
Spiritual Manifestation: In order for us to be renewed each day, we have to spend intimate time with God. We have to go through the same process that we did when we first accepted and received Him. Does this mean we have to confess every single sin we have ever committed every day to God? No. Our first confession included all those sins. This is why our emotions were so stirred up the first time. But as we continue to walk in light, in truth we are to confess the sins of each day. This includes the things that we have done; lying, cursing, cheating and the things that we failed to do; forgiving, loving and showing kindness. Simply saying “God forgive me of my sins” is not going through this renewal process. We have to call out the specific sin so that we can further face that sin and it won’t have power over us. If we generalize our prayers, our sins, then we allow it to stay hidden within us and we continue to walk around in bondage. But in order for us to be free of that, we must confess it to God and He has said that He will forgive us and make us clean. We don’t have to live in darkness, walking around feeling empty, incomplete, or defeated. We can walk in light through daily renewal. It’s manifestation time!
