My First Love: As we enter into the ‘love’ month, couples prepare to show those they love how special they are to them. We tend to go above and beyond in romancing our wives, husbands, or partners. Many do not have any one special person and attempt to spread the same amount of “love” with many people in hopes to have someone to reciprocate. Years ago, I heard a sermon entitled, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore”. The message reminded us that when we first fell in love with our true first love, Father, Jesus Christ, we treated Him like we did the special person in our lives during the courting period. Time was designated just for them. We place them first above everyone. We rose early to talk to them and they were the last person we talked to at night. We did nice things for them and talked about them to any one who would listen. They put a smile on our faces and we enjoyed putting one on theirs. At some point, the romance turned old or even became stale. They became so familiar to us that we ceased to do the things we did when we first fell in love with them. So familiar, that it takes a special month to remind us about who they are, why we fell in love with them and how much we have neglected them.

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15: 13

Spiritual Manifestation: GOD, the Creator is our First Love. Do you remember when you fell in love with Him? He knows when He fell in love with each one of us. He shows us every day how much He loves us and He places us first among all His creation. Do you put GOD first in aspects of time, relationships, charity, fellowship and communication? Or do you only put Him first during seasonal months and then try to share yourself with other gods in your life? During this ‘love’ month, choose to bring GOD flowers by falling in love with Him all over again. Everyone remembers their first love, even if they are no longer with them. But GOD will be with us forever and He will never stop loving us. Make GOD Greater!

With Love in the Spirit,
