Submission Starts with Me (Pt2)

Answer to  Bible Trivia (1.10.11): Lover of themselves- 2 Timothy 3:2

2011 Theme:  Make GOD Greater!

Greetings:

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:7-8 NIV

Submission Starts with ME (Pt2):  You ever find yourself in a constant battle with the enemy? It seems that you are always on the losing side with no intermission during his attacks?  Your bad days seem to outweigh all your good ones and your strength feels completely withdrawn. When you are in constant attack, there is comfort in knowing that the godly will suffer persecution (2 Tim.3:12), but because we are victorious people we should be able to withstand the enemy’s tactics.  Often it is ourselves that causes us to get caught in the enemy’s crossfire. The Word tells us that if we resist the devil he will flee, even if it is for a season. But in order to stand against and be in opposition of what the enemy is for, we have to first submit to GOD by obeying His Word. In the Greek, submit means to obey. When we are disobedient to GOD’s word, we are in opposition to Him. If our actions are not supporting the words that are being spoken, we are releasing curses into our lives and giving the devil permission to have access to not only ourselves, but our family.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive  yourselves. Do what it says… But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it he will be blessed in what he does.” James 1:22,25 NIV

Spiritual Manifestation: GOD has illustrated through His servant James that it is the Word that enables us to resist the enemy and we have to learn, speak and apply the Word. As you continue in this week, quickly identify situations when you do something or not do something that GOD has instructed in His word. It could be on your job and the enemy works through a coworker or supervisor to test you. Will you choose to react in opposition to GOD or will you obey Him and be a peacemaker, one who works for peace? Choose to make GOD Greater!
