Submission Starts with ME

Answer to SR Bible Trivia (1.7.11): Saul, 1 Samuel 15:22

2011 Theme: Make GOD Greater!

Greetings:

“I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.” Isaiah 42:8 NIV

Submission Starts with Me:  Since the beginning GOD has  declared His authority and the “I am the LORD” declaration is traceable from the book of Genesis to Revelation.  Glancing back to your childhood church services, perhaps depending upon your denomination, you recall hearing the women and elders in the church give what seemed to be the mandated greeting: “First giving all honor and praises to God who is the head of my life…” Around age 12, when I was selected to be the Sunday school secretary, I was confused about how to give my report but the one thing I knew was this traditional greeting had to be included. Sadly, this greeting is still incorporated today with about as much value as my 12 year old words were worth.  The question poses, is GOD really the head, center of our lives? If GOD is really first and the core of our lives, then pleasing Him is our first priority. Therefore, all the traditional cliches are noise to His ears if we are not pleasing GOD by submitting to Him.

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2b

Spiritual Manifestation: In order for GOD to be greater, we have to become lesser.  A latest phrase is “I’m doing me”.  If ‘doing me’ includes doing less of GOD, then you have pretty much sided with an idol and chosen the world over the Keeper of your soul. That mindset paints a picture of destruction that is not satisfied until it is manifested.  Submission is active and before we are able to put our words into action, we have to renew our way of thinking.  Declare, “Submission Starts with ME. I’m not doing ME, but I’m doing GOD.” Greater is He that is in us than in the world.
